Problem:

  • Sauer-Danfoss needed to completely machine, deburr, wash, multiple parts and multiple volumes
  • Sauer-Danfoss needed a completely unattended system
  • Parts needed to be processed (infeed and outfeed) on existing transfer carts

Solution:

  • 4 Horizontal CNC machine tools-milling
  • 1 Submerging part wash station
  • Integrated thermal deburring system (non-cutting).
  • Custom workholding designed and built by ITI
  • Robotic automation for tending the entire system- 2 robots
  • Custom vacuum slip sheet system designed and built by ITI
  • CNC programs, cutting tools and tool life management all completed by ITI

Results:

  • The robotic automation solution was able to run completely unattended
  • Parts were machined, deburred, washed and placed on outfeed carts
  • ITI was able to utilize existing transfer carts for infeed and outfeed
  • Sauer-Danfoss finished parts with no operators touching the parts
  • Sauer-Danfoss can run multiple parts and multiple volumes through the system-high mix/low volume
